Product Uses and Applications

High purity gold containing brazing alloys find use in a variety of applications including electronic components, imaging equipment, aerospace, oil and gas and chemical. The alloys in this range are normally selected because of their ability to withstand chemical attack and retain strength at elevated temperature or because they can be produced in ultra pure V1 grade sometimes called ‘vacuum tube grade’.

Meta-Braze Au 800 is a high purity gold-copper alloy with a eutectic composition. Gold-copper braze alloys have good resistance to oxidation at elevated temperatures and excellent corrosion resistance in many chemical environments. They are suitable for use in the fabrication of vacuum tube / thermionic valve devices due to their high purity and the low vapour pressures of both gold and copper.

Meta-Braze Au 800 shows good wetting on alloys of copper, nickel, iron, cobalt, molybdenum, niobium and tungsten and due to its good ductility is suitable for use on metallised ceramics.

Meta-Braze Au 081 is a high purity gold-copper-nickel vacuum brazing alloy. The addition of nickel to the alloy means that it is less free flowing than gold-copper alloys but shows excellent wetting on nickel, molybdenum, stainless steel, and Kovar (Ni-Co-Fe alloy). It is suitable for brazing ceramic components that have been metallized with moly-manganese.
