Product Uses and Applications

Meta-Braze Al filler metals are intended for joining aluminium alloys – the 1000 series (e.g. 1100), 3000 series (e.g. 3003, 3004), 5000 series and some 6000 series alloys (eg.6061, 6031, 6951). These products are used in the manufacture of automotive components and aluminium heat exchangers.

VBC Group offer a number of Meta-Braze Advanced forms of these products that contain specially formulated fluxes in the central core of the product.

Meta-Braze Al 112 (4047)

Meta-Braze Al 112 – is the industry standard for joining of aluminium alloys. With the appropriate flux and careful consideration of the brazing parameters it can also be used to join aluminium to dissimilar metals such as steel or copper.

Available product forms include: Rods, rings, washers and preformed shapes, powder and paste.

Sheet is available in the following thicknesses: 0.025mm, 0.050mm, 0.075mm, 0.10mm, 0.125mm, 0.150mm, 0.20mm, 0.25mm, 0.30mm, 0.38mm, 0.5mm, 0.75mm, 1.5mm

Meta-Braze Al 310 (4004)

Meta-Braze Al 310 / Meta-Braze Al 4004 brazing alloy conforms to BAlSi-7 which contains between 1-2% magnesium. The magnesium in the brazing alloy acts as a 'getter' in the brazing cycle removing residual oxygen and moisture and enabling vacuum furnace brazing. The typical brazing range for 4004 is 588-604°C.

Meta-Braze Al 310 / Meta-Braze Al 4004 is available in foil form 365mm wide x 0.1mm thicknesses. Other foil sizes may be available subject to large minimum order sizes.

The 4045 cladding thickness varies between 10% for .090” and less, 5% for .091” and more.
