Product Uses and Applications

When brazing aluminium alloys in air it is necessary to use a brazing flux.

Three general formulations of flux are in regular use:

  • Fluoride based fluxes that have a narrow operating temperature range and non-corrosive flux residues
  • Fluoride based fluxes containing caesium compounds used for aluminium alloys that contain magnesium
  • Chloride based fluxes that have a wide operating temperature range and corrosive flux residues

VBC Group can supply each of these formulations depending on the requirements of the application.

Meta-Braze ALC 31 Flux Paste

Meta-Braze ALC 31 is an aluminium brazing flux paste formulated for brazing of aluminium using an aluminium-silicon brazing alloy such as Meta-Braze Al 112 / BAlSi-4. It is suitable for automotive and aerospace applications and for the manufacture of aluminium heat exchangers.
Meta-Braze ALC 31 Flux Paste may be used for torch or induction brazing operations in air. This flux is corrosive, read the Safety Datasheet before use and wear protective clothing.×

A general purpose aluminium brazing flux paste with good flux activity. Flux residues need to be removed after brazing.

Meta-Braze ALC 31 Flux Powder

Meta-Braze ALC 31 Flux Powder is a highly active halide containing flux suitable for brazing of aluminium alloys in air with a torch, fixed burners or induction brazing heating methods and utilising an aluminium-silicon braze such as Meta-Braze AL 112 (4047 / 88:12). Flux residues are corrosive and must be removed after brazing by washing with hot water.×

A general purpose aluminium brazing flux powder with non-corrosive residues
